Enugu Rangers close in on ninth NPFL title

Enugu Rangers earned a 2-1 win over Bendel Insurance to move a step closer to winning their ninth Nigeria Premier Football League title on Sunday.

The Flying Antelopes grabbed the maximum points thanks to a brace from Godwin Obaje to maintain their one point advantage over Rivers United with one match to go.

Consequently, The champions of the NPFL 2025-26 season will be determined on the final day of the season after Rivers United sealed a stunning 3-2 way win over Wikki Tourists in Bauchi.

On the final day, Rivers United will take on Katsina United at home while Enugu Rangers will travel to Lagos to face Ikorodu City.

Lucky Emmanuel scored the only goal to hand Shooting Stars the maximum points against Barau FC at the Lekan Salami Stadium in Ibadan.

In Ikenne, Remo Stars boosted their relegation survival hopes with a 2-1 win over Bayelsa United.

Ofem Nneoyi gave the visitors the lead in the fifth minute before Alex Oyowah, and Victor Mbaoma scored to hand them the three points at home.

The win was enough to move the defending champions up to 16th on the NPFL log.

Kun Khalifat also recorded a shocking 2-0 away win over Abia Warriors courtesy of Uchechukwu Onuoha’s brace.

Rabiu Alli scored the only goal of the match as Kano Pillars defeated Warri Wolves at home at the Sani Abacha Stadium.

The NPFL will return next week Sunday with teams battling to escape relegation and the teams gunning for the title on the last day.
