Delta Force open Tojemarine Int’l Handball Championship with victory
Delta Force defeated De Defenders 25-22 to begin the 2026 Tojemarine International Handball Championship on a winning note on Thursday at the Indoor Sports Hall of the National Institute for Sports, Lagos.
In the women’s category, SOOF Handball Club secured a hard-fought 32-28 victory over Seasiders Babes after taking a 14-11 lead into the break.
Flowers Handball Club also started their campaign on a winning note, defeating ASPAC of Benin Republic 26-21 in a closely contested encounter, having led 12-11 at halftime.
At the end of the opening day’s matches, Flowers lead the female division standings with two points and a +5 goal difference, while SOOF are second with two points and a +4 goal difference.
Seasiders Babes and ASPAC occupy third and fourth positions respectively without a point.
Hosts Tojemarine Sport Club rounded off the Group A fixtures with a 32-28 win over Energie Handball Club.

The results see Tojemarine Sport Club top Group A with two points and a +4 goal difference, while Delta Force are second with two points and a +3 goal difference.
De Defenders and Energie are yet to register any point.
In Group B, Niger United proved too strong for Bayelsa Waves, cruising to a 33-19 victory after dominating the first half 16-7.
The emphatic win puts Niger United at the summit of Group B with two points and a +14 goal difference, while Bayelsa Waves are fourth without a point.
ASPAC of Benin Republic and Kalibi Handball Club are yet to play their opening matches in the competition.
