U-17 WWC: Flamingos will approach Venezuela game with right mentality –Busari

Akeem Busari

The coach of the Flamingos of Nigeria Akeem Busari has disclosed that his team will approach their quarterfinal fixture against Venezuela at the ongoing U-17 Women’s World in Morocco with the right mentality.

Busari who was speaking in a pre-match press conference ahead of the game today (Sunday) said that the Flamingos will approach the encounter the same way they approached the Round of 16 match against Mexico.

He admitted that the South Americans are a very good side and they would be a hard knock to crack at this stage of the competition which is more reason why the Flamingos will approach the match with caution and resilience.

“Like I do say, it is one game after the other. For Venezuela, they are a very good side too to come into this tournament. So, we will approach it the same way we approach other teams. Because all of us in the quarterfinal are good to have been in that stage,” he said.

“So we are not leaving anything in terms of our preparation. The players are to go all out and play. We have to put our mentality right and fight for all balls,” he said.

According to Busari, the only way the Flamingos can attain victory against Venezuela is to fight for the first and second ball during the game and also pray for luck to eventually seal a semi-final ticket.

“We have to really fight for all balls, both first and second balls. We have to take the game to them and pray for luck so that we can scale through that moment.” The coach said.

The Nigerian team will square up against Venezuela (which earned a spot in the last 8 by defeating Germany 1–0) in a quarterfinal clash which will take place today at Pitch 4 of the Mohammed VI Football Complex in Salé, Rabat, 6pm local time in Morocco which is 7pm in Nigeria.
