Olise beats Mbappe, Cherki to French player of the year award
Bayern Munich winger Michael Olise has pipped Kylian Mbappe and Rayan Cherki to the 2026 best French player playing abroad award following an impressive season.
Olise has enjoyed a stunning season with Bayern Munich scoring 22 goals and recording 28 assists in all competitions for the Bavarians.
He fought off competition from the likes of Rayan Cherki (Manchester City), Hugo Ekitike (Liverpool), Kylian Mbappé (Real Madrid) and William Saliba (Arsenal).
The former Crystal Palace star was also named Bayern Munich’s player of the month for April, he has now won the award four times this season.

Mbappe won the award last year following an impressive first season for Real Madrid.
Olise was delighted to win the award while setting his sights on winning the World Cup for France.
He said: “I am very grateful, I wanted to thank everyone at Bayern Munich, I can’t wait to give my all at the World Cup this summer, with the France team.
“My target this season was to win everything with France and with Bayern. That’s it. I’m excited for the World Cup and looking forward to giving everything to win with France.”
Olise has been a key player for Bayern Munich this season leading them to the Bundesliga title with a series of match-winning performances.
