NPFL Wrap: Consecutive wins for Enyimba as Rangers maintain top spot

Enyimba continued their resurgence with a second consecutive win against Plateau United at the Aba Township Stadium on Sunday.

The People’s Elephants earned a 2-0 win over the visitors following a disappointing start to the season, failing to win in their first four matches.

Ifeanyi Ihemekwele and Richard Ezinna scored the goals that earned the hosts a deserved victory.

Defending champions Enugu Rangers maintained their lead on top of the log with a 3-1 win over Abia Warriors at the Awka City Stadium.

Godwin Obaje and Chidiebere Nwobodo gave Rangers a 2-0 lead before Emeka Obioma reduced the deficit for Abia Warriors.

Akorode Daniel put the icing on the cake in the stoppage time with the third goal of the game.

Rivers United maintained their unbeaten start to the season with a 2-0 win over struggling Ikorodu City.

Samson Olasupo, and Chinemerem Ugwueze were on target for the Finidi George-led side.

Joshua Abbah scored the only goal to lead Doma United to a 1-0 win over Warri Wolves at the Pantami Stadium in Gombe.

Kwara United fought back from a goal down to defeat Rancher Bees 2-1 in Ilorin thanks to goals from Toheeb Gidado and Stephen Gideon.

Inter Lagos and Katsina United played out a 1-1 draw at the Mobolaji Johnson Arena in Onikan.

Shooting Stars were held to a 1-1 draw by Nasarawa United at the Lekan Salami Stadium in Ibadan.

Meanwhile, Enyimba assistant coach, Lawrence Ukaegbu, was delighted with the team’s new found form following the win against Plateau United.

He said: “We have returned to our best form, and I can assure you of this. Our success has been built on consistency and the players’ commitment to working as one unit.

“The players have now developed a comprehensive understanding of the expectations we have established for them. This understanding accounts for the remarkable resurgence you have observed.”

The People Elephants are now unbeaten in their last three matches, they will be hoping to continue their resurgence when they take on Katsina United on Sunday.
