Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) clubs have received their fair share of the first tranche of the Euromatch sponsorship payment.

The payment of the first tranche of the entire deal which is worth $7.5 million over three years ($2.5m annually), was confirmed by the NPFL Chief Operating Officer, Dr Ayo Hammed Abdulrahman.

He clarified that the deal is worth $7.5M for three years ($2.5M annually) and not $1M as reported.

According to him, only the funds received so far have been distributed to clubs based on their agreed percentage.

Abdulrahman also added that 60% per cent of the funds which is set to bolster squads and conditions as the season heats up, will go directly to 20 clubs for player wages and welfare.

“The tranches that have been received, the percentage due to the clubs has been paid,” he said.

The initial tranche distributions, reportedly around N15 million per club, comes right before key fixtures like Kano Pilllars vs Sporting Lagos and the Oriental derby between Enugu Rangers and Abia Warriors.
