Matchday! Eagles face Poland without Osimhen, Lookman as Chelle stays positive
Head coach of the senior national team of Nigeria Eric Chelle is confident that the Super Eagles can compete favorably in the friendly games against Poland and Portugal without the pair of Victor Osimhen and Ademola Lookman.
The coach who earlier announced that pair will be absent from the friendlies games due to various reasons, told NFF TV that Super Eagles is not just about one player but a group that is ready to take on any team.
Speaking ahead of today’s game against Poland, Chelle said that the team is in a good mental condition for today’s game and there are a lot of good players in camp that want to prove a point.
He said; “I made this choice, dictated by personal reasons. But there are a lot of good players. It’s not about one specific player who happens to be missing, but about a group that is ready for a match here and now.

”Everyone knows what is important, everyone knows the game plan, you just have to implement it on the pitch. We are in good mental condition.”
While reflecting on the team’s failure to qualify for the 2026 World Cup, Chelle said that the team has put that disappointment behind them and is now focused on the future.
“But that’s football, now we must focus on our vision, strength and future. We have an interesting match ahead of us against a good team and we are glad that we are here,” added Chelle.
The Super Eagles will take on Poland tonight (Wednesday) and the kickoff time is 7:45p.m.
