Lookman, Osimhen will miss Poland, Portugal friendlies –Chelle

Eric Chelle

Head coach of the Super Eagles of Nigeria Eric Sekou Chelle has disclosed that both Ademola Lookman and Victor Osimhen will miss the upcoming friendly games between Poland and Portugal.

Chelle who made the disclosure after Nigeria defeated Jamaica 3-0 said that Atletico Madrid asked that Lookman should be excluded from the friendlies games so he can be 100% fit for preseason while Osimhen was left out too because he might change clubs very soon.

The coach also noted that other players including (Samson) Tijani and (Abdullahi) Yusuf will not play the games against Poland and Portugal because of Visa issues.

“For now we have two games, Poland and Portugal and I have lots of problems because some players have visa issues, players like (Samson) Tijani and (Abdullahi) Yusuf,” Chelle said.

“But most importantly we miss two players because Victor Osimhen maybe he is about to change club so I prefer he stays at home because if he plays and is not at 100 percent is not good.

“For Lookman he is very tired and Atletico ask us to excuse him. We will travel with 18 players and we will see what happens after Poland and Portugal.

After successfully defending the Unity Cup on Saturday with a brace scored by Alhasan Yusuf and a solo strike by Terem Moffi, the Super Eagles are now poised for the high-profile games against Poland on Wednesday, June 3 before facing Portugal on Wednesday June 10.
