Joshua engages new trainer ahead of Fury showdown
British-Nigerian boxer Anthony Joshua has engaged a new trainer identified as Ben Davison ahead of his much-anticipated boxing showdown with his compatriot, Tyson Fury.
This was made known on Tuesday by Joshua’s promoter Eddie Hearn who further disclosed that Davison who once trained Fury in the past will work with his client on strategy.
Hearn also disclosed that Davison will be fully involved when Joshua eventually decides to finally set up his training camp ahead of his fight with Fury.
“He’s always been, even when Ben wasn’t his principal trainer, working with him strategically, talking all the time. I think he respects Ben a lot,” Hearn explained “Obviously, there’s probably a feeling that Ben Davison knows Tyson Fury extremely well.

“I don’t know AJ’s final decision to where he’s going to locate his training camp, but Ben Davison will definitely be involved in that camp and that process.”
The long-awaited heavyweight fight between Joshua and Fury is closing in on a final agreement for December 11, 2026, at the Principality Stadium in Cardiff, Wales.
Recall that negotiations previously stalled when organizers and broadcast partners pushed to host the boxing match-up at Madison Square Garden in New York.
However, Joshua and Fury’s team held firm on a contractual clause requiring the fight to take place in the United Kingdom.
