Hearn insists Joshua vs Fury fight must take place in Britain

Fury vs Joshua

British boxing promoter Eddie Hearn has insisted that the much-anticipated boxing showdown between his client Anthony Joshua and his compatriot Tyson Fury must take place in the United Kingdom.

Hearn who was speaking to the British media on Wednesday said that Joshua could have taken many millions more to do the fight in America but they want the fight to take place in Britain.

He disclosed further that the support they have had from fans and boxing buffs alike have made them to double down on their principles and also called on the organisers of the fight to honour the contract that they have signed.

“Dana White has tried to get involved in a fight that he has nothing to do with,” Hearn told iFL TV.

“All we have ever done is say, ‘We’ve signed our contract. Just honor the contract that we’ve signed.’”

“Anthony Joshua could have taken many millions more to do the fight in America. We want the fight in Britain.

“The support that we’ve had on social media, my social media, A.J.’s social media, has made us double down on our principles on this. We’re not trying to hurt the fight.” He noted.

This comes days after Hearn disclosed that Joshua Vs Fury fight is back on the cards after the showdown was earlier reported to have been called off.

Hearn who spoke to the BoxingScene said that staging the Joshua Vs Fury heavyweight showdown in the U.K. remains “absolutely” in play, with the Principality Stadium in Cardiff, Wales, being proposed for the fight on November 28.

Further reports say streaming partner Netflix “was now OK with the move” after a previous effort to stage the fight at New York’s Madison Square Garden on November 20 to maximize revenue and exposure.
