INT’L FRIENDLY: Super Eagles force Russia to 3-3 draw
The Super Eagles of Nigeria forced their Russian counterparts to 3-3 draw in an international friendly game played at the Nizhny Novgorod Stadium on Tuesday.
Despite parading a depleted side due to the non-availability of several key players the Super Eagles tutored by Eric Chelle showed immense character in the game with Kelechi Iheanacho scoring the first goal of the match in the 10th minute.
The Russians fought their way back in the game were rewarded for their efforts in the 30th minute of the game when Lechi Sadulaev leveled scores at 1-1. Matvey Kislyak gave the hosts the lead in 45+2 minute to make it 2-1 for the host team before the end of the first half of the maych.
Russia, started the second half the same way they ended the first half when Aleksey Miranchuk capitalised on a defensive blunder to give his team a 3-1 lead in the 54th minute.

However, the Super Eagles started clawing their way back in the game when debutant, Peter Edokpolor who plies his trade for Benefica of Portugal scored a brilliant solo goal in the 78th minute of the game.
The Super Eagles made sure the game ended in a draw in the dying minutes of the encounter when Akor Adams tapped in in a cross from another debutant, Umar Abdullahi on 90+4 minutes to end the match in a stalemate.
The game with Russia comes after the Super Eagles lost a Matchday 2 AFCON 2027 qualifying game against Guinea-Bissau at the Estadio Nacional 24 de Setembro Bissau which ended 0-3 in favour of the hosts.
