I’m not under pressure despite Brighton defeat –Carrick
Manchester United coach Michael Carrick has revealed that he is not under pressure despite another disappointing 3-2 defeat to Brighton in the Carabao Cup on Tuesday.
The Red Devils surrendered a 2-0 lead to lose 3-2 at Old Trafford after taking a first half lead through goals from Shea Lacey and Mason Mount.
It was the first time United had led at home by two goals and lost since they were beaten 3-2 by Tottenham in 1976, half a century ago.
The Devils have now lost three matches this season.
Carrick admitted that the defeat was disappointing but insists he is not bothered about pressure.
He said: “I don’t feel under pressure. Either way, that doesn’t bother me one bit.
“I understand what goes on outside and how the world works, but it doesn’t bother me. What bothers me is winning games, having a good feeling around the place and a good feeling around the group to know we’re moving in a good direction.
“We’ve gone out of the cup tonight, and the feeling around the place feels bigger than that. I’m honest enough to say that’s how it feels. But it doesn’t have to be like that. If we win football matches again, it can go in a different direction.”

Carrick has urged the players to move on from the defeat and focus on winning their next game against Fulham.
He said: “We’ve got a big game on Sunday that we need to prepare for. We’re out of this competition and we’ve got to get back to winning football matches. It doesn’t feel good at the moment, let me tell you. It doesn’t feel good at the moment.
“But we can get back to winning football matches, and we’ve got to do a lot of things better. We want to win and we want to win quickly. It’s as simple as that. The next game’s Sunday, so that’s purely all I’m thinking about right now.”
The Red Devils have endured a disappointing start to the new season in the Premier League, winning just once out of their first four games.
Brighton will face the winner between Man City and Norwich in the Carabao Cup fourth round.
