Manchester City coach Pep Guardiola has reserved special praise for Mikel Arteta, Unai Emery and Oliver Glasner for guiding their teams, Arsenal, Crystal Palace and Aston Villa to strong European campaigns this season.

Arsenal are set to face PSG in the Champions League final, Aston Villa will square up against Freiburg in the EUROPA League final while Crystal Palace will square up against Rayo Vallecano in the Conference League final.

“I want to congratulate Mikel Arteta and his group on reaching the UCL final – it’s good for Arsenal, but for English football”.

The Spaniard also reserved praise for Aston Villa manager Emery and Crystal Palace boss Glasner, calling both tacticians “excellent managers” following their recent successes.

“The same like Aston Villa, Crystal Palace. Unai Emery and Glasner are excellent managers”.

Guardiola additionally provided an encouraging update on Manchester City midfielder Phil Foden, insisting he is beginning to show signs of returning to top form after a difficult spell.

“I see signs of Phil Foden returning to his best level,” the City manager stated.

Pep also revealed details of a private conversation with the England international, where he reminded Foden of the aggressive attacking instincts that make him dangerous.

“We talked: ‘Phil, who are you as a player? Your biggest quality? It’s turn and go. Attack the box. Don’t lose that,’” Guardiola explained.

He continued: “It doesn’t matter if you’re in better or bad form. You’re not a player to control a game. Your quality is to be a machine, attacking the ball with a sense of assists and goals, and threatening the keeper that you’re going to shoot.”
