Galatasaray issue Osimhen injury update
Turkish Super Lig club Galatasaray has issued an update on the advanced- moderate right adductor (groin) strain injury sustained by Victor Osimhen during the club’s 3-2 victory over Istanbul Başakşehir two weeks ago.
Osimhen who has been out of action for three consecutive matches for his club has returned to the training ground for specialised routines but the club has stated that the Nigerian striker will not be rushed into action.
That stance was made known by club doctor, Yener Ince who disclosed that Galatasaray will try to protect Osimhen by managing his injury as much as possible rather than losing the player for an even longer period.
“His treatment is also going very well. But we need to say this about him: there was a very large hematoma in a muscle group that the doctors call Grade 2. He had serious bleeding. His injury is not something to be taken lightly,” İnce said on Galatasaray YouTube channel.
“With the help of our radiologist colleagues at our sponsor hospital, we drained the hematoma using a different method. After the hematoma was drained, he felt much better. His treatment is ongoing.
“He participated in some of the team’s training sessions yesterday. However, we will assess him day by day, phase by phase. We don’t want to take any risks.
“I’ll say the same thing for both Wilfried Singo and Osimhen: We don’t want to take any risks. We will make our decision based on the results of the tests we conduct in those phase studies.

“I understand there’s a very important match schedule, but rather than losing the player for an even longer period, we need to move forward based on the test results we’ve obtained here. We will try to protect him as much as possible.

Osimhen who has missed games against Kocaelispor, Trabzonspor and a Champions League game against Sporting Lisbon is said to be a huge doubt to feature in Galatasaray’s next league game against Kasimpasa on Friday, October 9, 2026.
The former African footballer of the year who has scored six goals and provided two assists for Galatasaray this season also missed Nigeria’s opening 2027 AFCON qualifying games against Madagascar and Guinea-Bissau during the international break.
