Newcastle and England international winger Anthony Gordon has landed in Spain as he prepares to pen an €80 million deal with La Liga giants FC Barcelona.

Gordon has reportedly arrived in Spain with his representatives after Newcastle board and Saudi owners accepted a €70 million fixed fee plus add-ons to bring the final package of the deal to over €80 million for the player.

The player was pictured landing at the El Prat airport with agents Adam Dugdale and Will Salthouse from Unique Sports Group ahead of his medical and contract signing.

“I’m very happy,” he told reporters at the airport as he moved straight to the Hospital de Barcelona for his medical examination.

Reports say that the Catalan giants secured the services of the 25-year-old on a five-year contract, beating out a late push from Bayern Munich and Liverpool FC.

According to reports, Liverpool attempted to leverage Gordon’s local roots and family ties to hijack the deal at the eleventh hour, but Barça pushed through with an offer reported to be around €70 million plus €10 million in add-ons.

Gordon played 26 times in the EPL this season scoring six goals and providing just two assists, the winger also thrived in Europe this season scoring 10 goals in the UEFA Champions League.
