Xavi says his next step could be a national team job
Former Barcelona player and coach, Xavi Hernández has disclosed that he is taking a break from club coaching and his next step could be a national team job which would suit him.
The coach who was once in charge of Saudi club, Al Saad cited the need for better work-life balance and more time with his young children.
Xavi who was fielding questions from journalists about his coaching career and Spain’s chances at the 2026 World Cup finals expressed his interest in leading a national setup at a major tournament.

He said; “My next step could be a National team. It would suit me and I WANT THAT”.
“I have family. A club wouldn’t allow me as much time with my family, I’ve got young children”.
“I’m keen to take part as a coach in a World Cup, EURO, AFCON, an Asian Cup…”.
Xavi has previously been linked with vacancies at the national level, including inquiries from Morocco and an offer to join Brazil’s coaching staff during Tite’s tenure.
