Under-fire Mbappe reaffirms Madrid commitment despite fan petition
French striker Kylian Mbappe has restated his commitment to Real Madrid after fans of the club launched an online petition to kick him out of the Spanish top-flight club.
As at the time of filing in this report, no fewer than 140,000 fans globally have signed the online petition to get Mbappé out of their club for good.
The move to kick Mbappe out of Madrid came after a report published on Monday by The Athletic revealed that the player has been described by staff members of the club as a bad teammate and bad player.
The report further alleged that during a recent training session the French player even confronted club coach Álvaro Arbeloa and caused a scene over an issue with a member of staff.

Mbappe, who is nursing an injury, further angered the Madrid fan base when it was also revealed that he is currently on holiday at an unnamed location with his girlfriend, a development confirmed by Arbeloa.
“All the injured players are monitored and the medical staff plan everything. In his free time, any player can do what he wants. I don’t get involved,” the Madrid gaffer said.
While reacting to the petition and the backlash which has followed his decision to go on a holiday, Mbappe’s representatives have issued a statement saying their client is being criticized based on over interpretation of elements related to a recovery period strictly supervised by his club.
“Part of the criticisms are based on an overinterpretation of elements related to a recovery period strictly supervised by the club.
“This is NOT corresponding to the reality of the commitment and the work that Kylian does daily for the good of the team,” the statement read in part.
