Okonkwo reveals two ambitions he hopes to achieve as Super Eagles player

Charlton Athletic FC goalkeeper Arthur Okonkwo has revealed two ambitions he hopes to achieve as a player of the Super Eagles of Nigeria.
 
Okonkwo who is on loan at Charlton from Wrexham A.F.C said that one of his two biggest ambitions as a footballer is to win the AFCON and compete favourably at the World Cup.
 
“I want to win the AFCON and compete at the World Cup. That’s one of my biggest ambitions as a footballer,” Okonkwo said while interacting with the media in Uyo on Wednesday.
 
The player who is highly regarded for his commanding presence in the 18-yard box also noted that he wants to continue learning, improving, and hopefully one day contribute positively to the Super Eagles.

“At the moment, it’s still early. I want to learn from everyone and learn new things. The previous camp was good for me,” he added.
 
“I want to take things in my stride, keep learning, keep improving, and hopefully one day contribute positively to the Super Eagles.”
 
Okonkwo who progressed through the ranks at Arsenal FC made his senior debut for the Super Eagles of Nigeria during the 2026 Unity Cup, keeping consecutive clean sheets against Zimbabwe (2-0) and Jamaica (3-0).
 
The 25-year-old is currently in the national team camp preparing for Nigeria’s upcoming 2027 AFCON qualifiers against Madagascar and Guinea-Bissau, providing competition in the goalkeeping department alongside Maduka Okoye and Stanley Nwabali.
