Ilechukwu signs new Rangers contract after winning NPFL title

Fidelis Ilechukwu

Enugu Rangers coach Fidelis Ilechukwu has signed a new one-year contract with the club after guiding them to the 2025-26 Nigeria Premier Football League title.

The former MFM FC coach led the club to their second league title in three years but his contract expired at the end of the season.

He was linked with a move away from the club but he has now ended the speculations about his future by signing a new one-year deal.

Rangers announced Ilechukwu’s new contract in a statement on their social media platforms on Saturday.

The statement read: “Building on what we’ve started. Our Technical Adviser has committed his future to the club by signing a contract extension ahead of the new season.

“New season. Same belief. Greater ambitions. Congratulations, Sabi. Good to have you on board as we continue the journey together. The journey continues.”

Rangers finished one point above second-placed Rivers United to win the 2025-26 NPFL title in May.

The Enugu-based club have now won the title nine times to equal Enyimba’s record as the most successful team in the NPFL.
