Four million fans sign petition to kick Mbappe out of Real Madrid

Kylian Mbappe

No fewer than four million soccer fans worldwide have signed a petition to kick French striker Kylian Mbappe out of Spanish club, Real Madrid.

The move to kick Mbappe out of Madrid came after a report published on Monday by The Athletic revealed that the player has been described by staff members of the club as a bad teammate and bad player.

The report further alleged that during a recent training session, the French player even confronted club coach Álvaro Arbeloa and caused a scene over an issue with a member of staff.

Mbappe, who is nursing an injury, further angered the Madrid fan base when it was also revealed that he is currently on holiday at an unnamed location with his girlfriend, a development confirmed by Arbeloa.

Hours after the campaign against the player was launched, about 140,000 fans globally signed the online petition to get Mbappe out of their club for good but that number has now increased exponentially.

A quick scan on the site on Thursday showed that the petition mooted by fans which was widely shared across social media platforms has now been signed by four million fans globally.

The description of the petition reads: “Madridistas, make your voice heard.

“If you believe change is needed, don’t stay silent — sign this petition and stand for what you think is best for the club’s future.”

Mbappe’s representatives have since issued a statement saying their client is being criticized based on over interpretation of elements related to a recovery period strictly supervised by his club.
