Fernandes inspires Portugal win against Denmark in Ronaldo’s absence

Portugal earned a 4-2 win over Denmark to continue their impressive start in the Nations League on Thursday at the Parken Stadium in Copenhagen.

The Selecao made light work of the hosts without Cristiano Ronaldo, who left the team’s camp following a disagreement with the coach Jorge Jesus.

João Cancelo opened the scoring for Portugal in the 13th minute before Mikkel Damsgaard brought Denmark back into the game in the 23rd minute.

Three minutes later, Goncalo Ramos restored Portugal’s lead with a low range finish from Bruno Fernandes’ assist.

Portugal held on to the lead to go into the break with a 2-1 advantage.

Rasmus Hojlund equalised for Denmark in the 53rd minute with a superb finish.

Vitinha scored his first-ever international goal to make it 3-2 in the 67th minute from another Bruno Fernandes cross.

João Felix came off the bench to put gloss on the victory, sealing Portugal’s fifth win in their last seven away matches.

Portugal have enjoyed a scintillating start in the Nations League, winning their first three matches of the tournament.

Manchester United’s captain Bruno Fernandes was named the man of the match following his impressive performance in the encounter after struggling in his last few matches.

In the other Nations League matches, Germany earned a 2-0 win over Serbia, Greece played out a 2-2 draw with the Netherlands.

Wales recorded a 2-1 win over Erling Haaland’s Norway, while Ireland and Austria played out a 2-2 draw.
