Brentford defeat Chelsea 3-0 to maintain unbeaten run
Brentford earned a stunning 3-0 win over Chelsea at the Gtech Community Stadium on Friday to maintain their unbeaten start to the 2026-27 Premier League season.
Xabi Alonso handed starts to Danny Welbeck, Jordan Henderson, Valentin Barco, and Pep Chavarria for the first time in the Premier League this season.
Talisman João Pedro was ruled out due to a knee injury, Reece James also missed out because of a hamstring concern.
It was an improved defensive performance from Chelsea in the first half but they were unable to finish their half chances as it ended 0-0.
Brentford turned on the switch in the second half with a clinical performance to blow the visitors away.
Jaidon Anthony opened the scoring in the 61st minute with a free headed after Chelsea defenders failed to clear their lines.

Igor Thiago added the second goal from a rebound in the 83rd minute after Emi Martinez saved Kevin Schade’s effort.
Substitute Fabio Carvalho sealed the maximum points with the third goal in the 94th minute to condemn Chelsea to their second defeat of the season.
It was Brentford’s second victory of the season to move them up to third on the table, they have drawn three matches this season and are yet to lose.
Chelsea, on the other hand, have won two, drawn one and lost two out of their first five matches of the season.
The Blues will hope to bounce back when they take on Bournemouth after the international break on October 10.
Brentford will face Aston Villa at Villa Park on the same day.
