Barcelona must cough out €500m to sign Julian Alvarez –Atletico Madrid

Julian Alvarez

Spanish club Atletico Madrid have declared that rivals Barcelona must cough out the sum of €500 million to land the services of Argentina striker, Julian Alvarez.

Barcelona have made Álvarez their top striker transfer target to replace Robert Lewandowski and are actively pushing to sign the forward after he publicly requested to leave Atlético Madrid.

Hansi Flick’s Barca hope to negotiate a transfer and have reportedly readied bids nearing €100 million but Atletico are demanding that a massive €500 million release clause inserted in the player’s contract be paid to secure Alvarez’s transfer to Camp Nou.

“There is no amount of money for which Barça can buy Julián Álvarez. He will not be transferred to Barcelona.

“Either they pay the release clause for €500m or there is no deal,” the club noted in a statement issued on Monday.

Álvarez has already informed Atlético Madrid of his desire to leave with Barcelona as a clear priority.

“The best thing for me now is a TRANSFER and I want to FULFILL MY DREAM.

“I don’t want to hide or act like I don’t want to be clear. I try to be honest.

“I spoke to Atlético people and I think the BEST for everyone involved is for me to LEAVE.

“I want to fulfill my DREAM,” Alvarez told ESPN.
