Super Eagles star Victor Osimhen has backed Galatasaray to bounce back from the 4-1 defeat to Samsunspor in the Turkish Super League on Saturday.

The defending champions produced a disappointing performance to delay their title coronation despite taking the lead in the encounter.

Yunus Akgün finished off a Victor Osimhen’s pass to give the visitors the lead.

However, Samsunspor rallied back to make it 1-1 through Marius Mouandilmadji in the 22nd minute.

Galatasaray goalkeeper Günay Güvenç was sent off in the second half before Mouandilmadji completed his brace and Cherif Ndiaye also added his own brace to make it 4-1.

Osimhen was disappointed with the team’s defeat while expressing confidence that they will recover to win their next game against Antalyaspor to wrap up the title.

He said: “We knew it wouldn’t be easy. We knew it would be a tough opponent.

“We were aware that winning the championship here wouldn’t be so easy. We didn’t play well either. We will win our home game and declare our championship.

“We also apologise to the fans. They didn’t leave us alone; they were by our side. We will look ahead.”

Osimhen has been a key member of the Galatasaray team this season, scoring 13 goals, and recording five assists in the Turkish League.

Galatasaray are aiming to win a fourth consecutive Turkish Super League title after winning it in, 2023, 2024 and 2025.
